Frequently asked questions
Yes, just contact us and we will open you a new time slot for download access. Downloads are managed in time-limited slots for multiple reasons. This means that you can access your product for a limited time after you initiated access to it. This time is set so -- it is a 30-day time slot -- that you can safely download the product or even re-download it a few times in case the download was not complete or successful. When you enter your serial number a download access will be automatically granted for you, even if you purchased a retail box product; this ensures that you will always have the latest version with you. Later, if you need to download the full product again, just contact us and you will get a new download slot.
Certain Inspired Acoustics virtual pipe organs contain a large amount of data and come with correspondingly large installation packages. Such amount of data is often difficult to download using a web browser or a downloader add-on. Therefore, these large downloads are split into parts and they are served using FTP, file transfer protocol, a method specifically designed to handle file transfers. To download the installer files manually we recommend using FileZilla, a free FTP client. If you are not sure whether your download was successful or the installation has failed for another reason, the first thing you can try is to check the validity of the downloaded files. To do this, please use the provided MD5 checksums and check which one of them, if any, was downloaded incorrectly. Incorrect downloads can happen due to an Internet connection dropout, a full hard disk or for various other reasons. These MD5 checksums provide unique signatures for each file, and they will indicate if the downloaded file is correct or corrupt. Those files that are corrupt can be re-download again and re-checked. If you are still unsure why the installation has failed, please send us a Hauptwerk diagnostic file and we will look into the problem to find the solution. In case you do not wish to download the product but obtain the retail box version instead after you already purchased the download version, you can still purchase the retail box itself without paying a license fee on this page. Downloading large files over a metered Internet connection (when your Internet Service Provider charges by the amount of data sent and received by your computer) can be expensive so please make sure you have the appropriate connection properties before proceeding with a download.
In all countries, the End-User License Agreement (EULA) covers the rules of transferring the license of the sample set or software you purchased. Customers living outside the European Union are currently not allowed to transfer the license unless a written permission is given by Inspired Acoustics. Please notify us if you intend to transfer your license to someone else and Inspired Acoustics will review the situation and provide further details. In case you are located in the European Union, you are automatically permitted to transfer the license of your sample set to someone else. To technically transfer the sample set’s license to someone else, you will be required to remove the license from your computer completely, including the installation files for downloaded products or the retail box itself if you purchased one, and all copies and backups of the installation materials, and you will also be required to deactivate (remove) the license from your USB dongle so that the new buyer can activate (install) the license. A small amount of transferring fee will be required to be paid, covering the license de-activation and activation processes. Please contact us for further details. In case you are transferring the USB dongle physically and permanently, and therefore no license transfer will be required, the fee is not required. The new customer is entitled for additional technical support from IA in case of purchasing a support plan for transferred license.
Yes, you can, even without any written credit that you used the given virtual organ for the released recording.
Q: I have a computer with a given CPU and amount of RAM. Is it appropriate to run a given sample set?
The amount of RAM and the speed of your CPU will determine the overall characteristics of your computer. For larger sample sets, you not only need a large amount of RAM but you also need fast RAM modules which can increase the maximum amount of polyphony your virtual pipe organ can play. For convolution reverberation and other computationally intensive tasks, you also need a fast CPU and a fast RAM. You can try consulting each product's Requirements section or try their trial versions. If you are not sure, you can always contact us and seek for advice.
Q: I received error message ERR:1333 in Hauptwerk in an attempt to install my virtual pipe organ I just purchased. What should I do?
Certain Inspired Acoustics pipe organs require a license activation within Hauptwerk. The error message 1333 indicates that the license activation is yet to be done, and that prevents installation. To solve this issue, please start Hauptwerk, generate a license update request file and send it to Milan Digital Audio as an e-mail attachment to email@example.com. They will respond and send instructions on how to apply the license update, and after this process you will be able to install the organ without any error message.
The academic discount is a reduction of the sale price of a product for personal use. Personal use means that only you can use the product. If you are looking for a license for public use, please check the public licenses.
Each product family (e.g., PAB Pipe Organ Samples) has its own description page on this website, where it is indicated whether the given edition (e.g., the Professional Edition) of the product is eligible for the academic discount or not. If you are unsure if a product is part of the academic discount offer, please kindly consult us.
What is needed is either a valid e-mail address of your educational institution or a document in a scanned format that verifies that you are a member of an academic institution. Please note that lifetime alumni e-mail addresses are not eligible.
Palace of Arts Budapest Pipe Organ Samples
Both abbreviations are used in specific virtual pipe organ products, referring to the built-in reverberation (acoustics) it is using. CSA stands for Coupled Spaced Acoustics, and sCSA means Shorter Coupled Space Acoustics. sCSA is a shorter version of CSA so you can say that sCSA is more dry than CSA. They are both quite wet, but CSA usually indicates a very long reverb.
There are certain virtual pipe organ products that ship with more than one organ file for the reason to provide more flexibility in different loading setups. By default, Inspired Acoustics virtual pipe organs for Hauptwerk version 3 and version 4 use 3 different release sample layers for each note. This means that for the shortest, longer and very long notes have individual release samples. This provides more realism in the sound, but also uses more RAM when you load it. Since Hauptwerk version 3 and 4 provides the ability to load "all" or "first" release layers only, there is no other way to load only 2 release layers of the available 3 than by using a different organ file. This is exactly what the 2R version provides, namely the option to load the organ with only 2 release layers. That provides slightly less realism than the default 3 layer version, but also uses less RAM. If you are working with a sample set with a longer reverberation and the Dynamic KeyboardMass functionality enabled, you can safely use the 2R version without greatly affecting the realism of the sound. By using the 2R version you will save a significant amount of polyphony and RAM.
On the real organ the mechanical couplers make a mechanical connection between the keyboard (the keys on different keyboards move together when the coupler is engaged), while the electrical couplers make an electrical connection without a joint key movement. In the PAB Professional and Extended Editions, the electrical and mechanical couplers only have a visual difference, their operation is the same. In PAB Gravissimo, the electrical couplers are coupling between the divisions (i.e., Great, Positive, etc.) while the mechanic couplers connect keyboards (i.e., I, II, III, etc.). Since in PAB Gravissimo you can assign different divisions to different keyboards and change this assignment while you play, the couplers will work differently. Both electric and mechanical couplers are available for use whichever you prefer.
Notre Dame de Budapest Organ Samples
The Notre Dame de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples (NDB) was originally made in GigaStudio and Kontakt formats and they are not compatible with Hauptwerk. However, the organs in NDB were re-recorded stop-by-stop and made available for Hauptwerk. They are called as the Matyas and Kispest Pipe Organ Samples.
Notre Dame de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples' is a comprehensive sampling library on DVD discs, containing pipe organ sound samples, which you can play with a computer. (NDB is the abbreviation of Notre Dame de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples.)
No. 'Notre Dame' simply means 'Our Lady'. Our product got its name from two cathedrals in Budapest, which both have 'Our Lady' in their name.
Pipe organ recording
In case you wish Inspired Acoustics to sample the pipe organ you know or you have access to, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org indicating as much information as you can about the pipe organ and the project you have in mind. You can also submit ideas, but if you have some access to the instrument there is more chance the sampling could take place sooner.
Q: I recorded / will record the XY pipe organ. Can Inspired Acoustics assist in the post production?
Yes. Please send us the project details and the need where Inspired Acoustics can assist you to email@example.com .
